So, today Google announced a new version of Google Earth, which for the first time included a Linux version, ported by my good friend and former colleague, Ryan Gordon.
The cool thing is that he of course opted to use my own Makeself archiving tool, as well as the Loki Setup installer (of which I am also the official maintainer) to distribute it! That means that everybody downloading the Linux version of Google Earth is using software that I wrote. This is probably one of the projects with the highest visibility to use it so far! I'm rather proud that my work is actually being used around the world. :)
If you haven't played with Google Earth yet, try it out. It's an amazingly fun and addictive program. They seem to have quietly released an Intel Mac version as well, so I guess I'll waste even more time with it now!
